About Leah Bonnema
Leah Bonnema is a Stand-Up Comic based in New York City. Huffington Post named her one of their Favorite Female Comedians and College Candy listed her as one the Ten Funniest Female Comics. Bonnema has been featured on Vh1, AXS TV’s Gotham Comedy Live, IFC’s Comedy Crib, Above Average, Elite Daily, Arise, ComedyTimeTV, VProud’s You’re Not Crazy series, Patrice O’Neal’s The Black Philip Show, and is a regular on SiriusXM Radio. She has had the honor of performing for the troops in Iraq, toured throughout the Middle East and performed for the US Marines at the famed Friar’s Club. Bonnema was a finalist in ‘New York's Funniest’ during the NY Comedy Festival and was featured on ‘The America Stands Up Showcase’ at The Magner's Glasgow Comedy Festival. She has also performed in the Women in Comedy Festival, The 360 Comedy Festival, The Maine Comedy Festival, The NY Underground Comedy Festival, The Reel Recovery Film Festival, The Charleston Comedy Festival, Bumbershoot, AfroPunkFest, The Hoboken Comedy Festival, The Piccolo Fringe and at The Kennedy Center in Washington DC. Bonnema has written for United Stations Radio, Lizz Winstead’s Lady Parts Justice and Huffington Post’s #CelebsHaveIssues series. She had a solo show Wake Up and Yell at Me at The PIT and was delighted to be a part of Mark Altman’s staged performance of The Voyage Home for the 30th Anniversary of Star Trek at The Javits Center. Solving Leah, a dark comedy detective series that Bonnema wrote and produced with Frankenmel Films is an Official Selection of the 2017 New York Television Festival. The NY Times said she is “one of the city’s most consistently excellent young comics” and The Scotsman called her “A force of nature.” Bonnema hails from Maine and received her degree with honors from McGill University. She loves animals, mystery novels, and Gandalf.
